PITCH DAY

Today was Pitch Day! As we were preparing, I was very scared... But once it actually started, it wasn't as bad as I'd expected .... I'm just glad that I got through it without panicking.

The Beginning

For my project, I am going to create a children's book for my English teacher's son and his classmates. She contacted her son's teacher and got me the list of words I should use to create the story.
So, I'm going to begin creating a story using those words, and hopefully, with the finished product, it can actually be in the form of a book... Maybe I could use Shutterfly since I've used that before.

Decisions

So you all know how I am very passionate about art... and how I wanted to create a video game... Well, now I think I've made my decision on writing and illustrating a children's book. As a little kid, I used to read, and believe it or not, WRITE AND ILLUSTRATE my own books!!! As a kid, maybe six or seven years old, possibly even younger, I drew a bunch of cute pictures and made a story out of them. And now, I want to do the same, but of course possibly make a career out of it. I just felt like making a video game was too much... Especially since I hate working with technology AND all of the good video game ideas are taken. My imagination just isn't big enough (yet). So, a children's book it is.

Some previous questions I had on my last post were;

Where do I go to college for graphic arts?
Options include; University of Pennsylvania, Carnegie Mellon University, Boston University, Pennsylvania State University, etc.

Are there any contests I can enter my art in?
There are not currently any contests in York. There are some close by, but I am not interested in them because their requirements are too strict.

How can I make money with my art?
Paint murals for people, create an Etsy...

What types of careers would be best for me?
There are so many!!!!!! From Logo Designer, to Tshirt Designer, to Architect, to Film Editor, to Photography!!!!!

How do I quickly get my work noticed?
My weebly page <howlingtimelord.weebly.com>, create an Etsy, volunteer for art jobs.

Now, for the children's book, I'm going to have to figure out how to get my work published and maybe even sold when it's done. I really hope I can follow through with getting it sold.

Where do I publish?

Getting My Work Out There

My goal is to create some sort of art that can get the community involved in, such as video games, apps, or cartoons. This may not exactly "help" the community, but it can help me get my artwork out there and noticed.
I have a few ideas of what I could do. One option is making a video game, or at least creating the storyboard, and creating the entire thing later when I have more experience. Something else I could do is create some sort of game app for phones.
Some things that I could do that doesn't involve graphic arts, is drawing artwork for veterinary hospitals, doctor's offices, or to anyone that might want some new drawings to hang on their walls. I could create my own website, maybe on Etsy, that would allow me to sell my art. This would also give people the chance to make requests for drawings they would want. Hopefully having an Etsy account would get me noticed and allow me to make money.

What programs do I need for making video games or apps?
